Over the last few days, Ric and Samir have been on site at the University of New England’s SMART Farm to install the recently developed MCC Hub network.
The technology involved in the project is an extension of the MCC platform, with an extra RF module added to 8 of the Hubs, and a GSM module added to 1 of the Hubs.
The extra RF allows the coverage at site to be extended, so that instruments can connect to the same network from anywhere on the farm.

The GSM component brings the whole site online. This allows remote configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the site via the EnviroNode software, which was performed from the office in Sydney.
The installation went smoothly for the first three days, however the last day some rain did make things difficult, as you can see below!

The commissioning of the MCC Hub network at the site will take place in November.
