The METS 2000 Emergency Communication System is a 100% Australian designed and manufactured product. It is the culmination of 20 years of experience in design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and maintenance of voice communication systems, on major project sites, in some of the most extreme environments in the world.

METS 2000 is designed to provide immediate response to a distressed caller. By simply pressing the button, on the front of the help point pillar, a call is initiated. Calls are automatically directed to a response centre where operators answer either by lifting the telephone handset or by touching the flashing screen icon, of a calling help point, on the sophisticated, map based, touch screen graphical user interface, (GUI). The operator has the option of placing calls on hold and choosing which calls to answer. However, by default, calls are answered in the order in which they were initiated. Calls can only be terminated by an operator.

The GUI provides a detailed view of the status of the entire help point network at a glance. The system is automatically self tested on a regular basis and faulty help points are displayed in red and logged. The system maintains logs of call activity, testing and faults which are displayed on the GUI. METS 2000 can be linked to other systems such as traffic control and video surveillance systems. All call activity and faults can reported as they occur to these systems.

METS 2000 is a very versatile product. Systems can be cabled via optical fibre, dedicated copper cable, GSM, radio and leased line. The central exchange equipment and the response centres can be centralised or distributed to allow operation of the system from multiple sites.

The METS 2000 system operator consoles incorporate the latest LCD displays and surface acoustic wave touchscreen technology for immediate, one touch, call handling. Display resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels allows detailed true graphical road maps to be customised for each system.

Touchscreen GUI

High resolution, SAW touch screen based, geographical map user interface with simple one touch call handling. Calls appear as flashing icons on the screen and the map is automatically zoomed in to the region where a call originated. Map layouts are customised for each system.

Distributed management

Response centres may be centralised with the exchange equipment or located at remote sites to suit customer requirements.

Galvanised, powder coated steel call pillar with powder coated, cast aluminium, fascia and cap. All internal surfaces also powder coated.

Vandal resistance

No handset or other external parts that can be damaged. Cap secured with special security fasteners.

Ingress protection

Sealed plastic insert houses the pillar electronics for environmental protection and quick replacement. Designed to meet IP66 rating. All connectors have IP68 rating.

Transient protection

Multi-stage transient protection is designed into every component of the system to withstand regular thunderstorm activity in equatorial and tropical climates.
